With three different options of Kuraray Noritake composite to choose from, how do you select which one to use? All three have a place in your practice, depending on the types of restorations you do, and their location in the oral cavity. Let’s try to simplify the differences between them all so that you can make the most educated choice.
CLEARFIL MAJESTY ES-2 Universal:
This material is 78wt% filled, and is available in both syringe and PLT (pre-loaded tip) delivery systems. The best application is the posterior region of the mouth, since it is available in only one shade. A chameleon effect and LD technology (light-diffusion technology) make for seamless blending and almost indetectable margins. Inventory can be streamlined, since only one shade choice needs to be made.
CLEARFIL MAJESTY ES-2 Classic:
This material is also 78wt% filled, and available in the same delivery systems as CLEARFIL MAJESTY ES-2 Universal. 16 traditional shades are available, ranging from A-D, with the addition of two bleaching shades XW and W. The material is intended to be used as a mono-layer product, selecting one specific shade for the restoration. The science in shade selection is based on lightness, utilizing the VITA Classical Shade Guide. We recommend removing all the shade tabs from the shade guide, and arranging them from the lightest to the darkest shade. This will assist you when conflict arises between two shade choices. You can view the shade to the right or the left of the center tab (always an A), to zero in on the most accurate shade match.
CLEARFIL MAJESTY ES-2 Premium:
Offers the same characteristics and delivery systems as mentioned above. The major difference is that this is a multi-layer product, where a selection of both an E and D shade will be used on each restoration. Once the VITA Shade Guide is rearranged from the lightest to the darkest shade, you will notice that every group of three tabs has an “A” tab in the center. When using PREMIUM, you will see that only 5 A choices are available for ordering, with a corresponding E and D offered. As an example, if you select shade A2, you would use A2E on the enamel portion of the tooth, and A2 D on the dentin portion. This product offers a more esthetic effect and is loved by Biomimetic dentists.
All three systems offer both a chameleon effect, and LD Technology. The choice is yours-each one has a place in your armamentarium. Highly esthetic restorations your patients will love are available to you, courtesy of Kuraray Noritake!
