Adhesion to Acrylics

Enhances adhesion between metal surfaces and heat/self-cure acrylic resins in removable prosthesis fabrication.

Frequently Asked Questions

Explore All
When do I need to use Alloy Primer?

When bonding to semi- or precious metal, or when repairing a PFM crown or bridge where an extremely strong bond is needed.

Is Alloy Primer included in either the PANAVIA 21 or PANAVIA F 2.0 kits?

Alloy Primer is not included in the PANAVIA 21 kit, or the PANAVIA F 2.0 Intro kit. The Alloy Primer is included in the PANAVIA F 2.0 Complete kit.

If cementation includes either precious or semi-precious metal, then Alloy Primer is necessary.

If cementation includes non-precious metal, then Alloy Primer is optional.

Does Alloy Primer require refrigeration?

Alloy Primer does not require refrigeration.

Is Alloy Primer necessary for pure gold, such as the Captek system?

Yes, we recommend the use of Alloy Primer on the pure gold surface to assure long term durability. Alloy Primer contains the adhesive monomer VBATDT (6-(N-(4-vinylbenzyl)propylamino)-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-dithione) which bonds chemically to precious metals. Alloy Primer is not necessary when cementing gold alloys with PANAVIA SA CEMENT UNIVERSAL due to the concentrated MDP in the cement paste.

How do I prepare my PFM crowns?

Just sandblast the inner surface of the crowns, ultrasonic wash and dry, and then apply PANAVIA 21. The paste of PANAVIA 21 bonds directly to base metal. There is no need to apply ED Primer to the metal surface. PANAVIA cements are self-adhering to metal and amalgam. On the other hand, in cases of semi or precious metals, you should apply Alloy Primer on the inside surface of the restoration. Do not use etching gel inside the restoration.
