The CLEARFIL MAJESTY™ ES-2 composite line is known for its exceptional color matching and blending with natural tooth structure. These clinical benefits are due to its Light-Diffusion Technology (LD Technology). This characteristic (LD Technology) refracts light, thereby giving a more natural effect to the restoration. The unfilled portion of CLEARFIL MAJESTY™ composites allow light to transmit like natural enamel and its translucency. The unique filler clusters diffuse light like that of natural dentin. This combination provides a very natural blending and exceptional blending at the margins. This also limits the need for using opaque composites to achieve a natural looking and blending restoration.
The images in Figure 1., illustrate how a natural tooth absorbs and diffuses light. An SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) image of the filler loading is also shown to illustrate the unique filler loading.
There are two formulations that provide the ideal properties for all clinical restorations. CLEARFIL MAJESTY™ ES-2 Classic mimics enamel and dentin with a single-shade technique. When a larger restoration and when a higher degree of translucency is needed CLEARFIL MAJESTY™ ES-2 Premium is then appropriate. This provides a dual-shade chemistry that contains more opacious dentin shades and translucent enamel shades. This enables the clinician to customize the opacity and translucency that is clinically required.
